Investigating the processing capacity of batch distillation by applying a second, smaller column

Increasing the processing capacity is important, especially in pharmaceutical industry, where a given amount of waste solvent must be processed specific time period, else remaining incinerated, which results organic loss and considerable environmental impact. In this paper, possibility increasing batch distillation by using second, already available, smaller column addition to original one studied. The size columns not changed during calculations performed. Two case studies are presented. first (Mixture 1), acetone, second 2), acetic acid recovered high purity from their aqueous mixtures operating either larger only or both simultaneously. serves for preliminary separation, its main-cut 1) residue 2) further one. goal work maximise two-column process with same recovery as single-column process.
